150 Free Trees for Brooklynites 10/21

A second pick up date has been scheduled for Brooklyn! Sunday, November 18th will be the second pick-up for free trees. Please email natasia@gowanuscanalconservancy.org to schedule your pick up!

Build It Green!NYC and the Gowanus Canal Conservancy have partnered with NYRP's MillionTreesNYC program to giveaway 150 free trees to Brooklyn residents next Sunday, October 21st from 11am to 1pm.

You can sign up now to reserve your tree for the Brooklyn pick-up on 10/21 (click here), and select from the different species of trees available.

Pick-up will be at the Gowanus Canal Conservancy's Salt Lot - located around the corner from BIG!NYC-Gowanus. The Salt Lot's address is 2 Second Ave. north of 5th St., Brooklyn. Look for the buses and you're almost there! Google Map

Trees	Description and Planting Requirements
Eastern Redbud - Registration Full! Small quantities available at the event first come, first served.	Cercis canadensis - a small; ornamental tree, easy to maintain, will be 20'-30' tall in 20 years. Should be planted in full sun; part sun/part shade and in soil that is acidic or alkaline; loam; clay; sand.
Serviceberry - Registration Full! Small quantities available at the event first come, first served.	Amelanchier arboria x laevis - a small; ornamental; fruit tree, easy to maintain, will be 10'-15' tall in 20 years. Should be planted in full sun; partial sun/partial shade and in soil that is acidic; loam; clay.
Franklin Tree	Franklinia altamaha - a small; ornamental tree, difficult to maintain, will be 10'-20' tall in 20 years. Should be planted in full sun; part sun/part shade and in soil that is acidic; loam; sand.
Cornelian Cherry Dogwood	Cornus mas - a small; ornamental tree, easy to maintain, will be 15'-20' tall in 20 years. Should be planted in full sun; part sun/part shade and in soil that is acidic or alkaline; loam; clay; sand.
