AIA Continuing Education

Build It Green!NYC is pleased to announce that we are an AIA CES Approved Provider.

We are currently offering the following course, and will make a presentation at your convenience:

Reuse, Recycling and Deconstruction:

Construction and Demolition Waste Management in NYC

This is a one hour, one AIA CES LU course.

Course purpose:

Each day in NYC, the construction and demolition (C&D) industry generates between 16,000-19,000 tons of waste. This course empowers architects to help reduce C&D waste by identifying ideal structures and materials for reuse, implementing recycling and reuse in upcoming projects, and learning how to navigate the obstacles facing C&D waste reduction in NYC.

Course objectives:

  1. To identify current C&D waste issues in the NYC metropolitan area.
  2. To examine how to effectively implement Recycling and Reuse in your next project.
  3. To identify ideal structures and materials for Reuse through case studies.
  4. To explore the obstacles NYC faces in executing effective waste management and to consider some ways around them.
