Blissful Bedrooms Brightens the Day!

BIG!Gives Back Recipient Builds a Dream Bedroom.

In order to assist in Blissful Bedrooms - a non-profit organization providing NYC's disabled youth with dream bedroom makeovers - in their project to update two girl's bedrooms, BIG!NYC donated doors, window frames, and other decorative items via our BIG!Gives Back program. These materials were used to create a country cottage bedroom for Lala and Geraldine, two sweet sisters with cerebral palsy. 

Over 30 dedicated volunteers came to help Blissful Bedrooms with the transformation that spanned three days at the end of June. During this process the volunteers created Lala and Geraldine's dream bedroom, plus the volunteers de-cluttered, organized, cleaned and painted the living room, kitchen, hallway and bathroom, as well as re-decorated and furnished the living room. After revealing the project to the family, the oldest daughter, Maria, remarked, "I have not seen my mother light up and smile like this in five years, since our father walked out on us without so much as a goodbye.  It is as though [Blissful Bedrooms has] lifted the darkness and sadness from her life and she is hopeful and happy again."

Blissful Bedrooms told BIG!NYC that they could not be happier with the results of BIG!NYC's donation. We all wish the best to Lala and Geraldine, their family, and all of the volunteers that have made Blissful Bedroom's vision possible!

Founded in 2009, Blissful Bedrooms in a non-profit organization run exclusively by local volunteers including community artists and handymen. Blissful Bedrooms provides New York City’s disabled youth with the opportunity to have a dream bedroom makeover, completely free of charge.
